Author · Founder · Engineer
Georgia author of 33 books, founder of Inspector Roofing and Restoration, and the engineer behind AI roof-inspection systems. Boston Marathon finisher one year after a traumatic brain injury. Georgia Tech alumnus.
About
He rebuilt himself with the same method he now teaches — measurement, documentation, and repeatable steps. It carried him from a hospital recovery to the Boston Marathon, into a roofing and insurance-claims practice, and finally onto the page.
Richard began at Georgia Tech at 16, studying biochemistry, and went on to work as a researcher at East Georgia College. He led a nine-gym sales territory at LA Fitness, trained as a marathoner and triathlete, and managed multi-million-dollar chemical-distribution books at Univar. Then, in 2014, a run in Augusta changed the direction of everything — and the recovery that followed became the books he writes today.
The memoir arc
Recovery is not a feeling. It is a measurement, recorded every day, until the trend line points the right way.
The memoir trilogy — I Can’t Not Cry, Do Your Job Anyway, and Compete, Don’t Complete — tells the story of a traumatic brain injury, the work of coming back, and the standard he built after it. Read the recovery story →
